Joint Accreditation Statement

In support of improving patient care at the time of sudden medical emergencies, this activity has been planned and implemented by the Postgraduate Institute for Medicine and American Health Care Academy. Postgraduate Institute for Medicine is jointly accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), to provide free continuing education for the healthcare and medical team.

Educational Objectives

After completing this activity, the participant should be better able to:

Recognize when there is a victim of cardiac arrest.

Identify when a person may be choking.

Assess the scene for responder safety.

React immediately by activating emergency response systems – call 9-1-1.

Begin chest compressions on unconscious adults, child or infant in cardiac arrest.

Follow depth of chest compression and rescue breath guidelines while responding.

Use an AED device following standardized guidelines.
